Potty Trained!

I think we've finally done it! We've gone 3 days without accidents now, and it is great. We are still using pull-ups at naps and night time, but he is starting to stay dry through his whole nap, so that will end soon as well! The other night, we had a short thunderstorm, and he got so scared that he peed in my lap, which was kind of funny. The same day, he had to go so bad that he didn't get his pants down in time and just sat down and peed with them on. It was also pretty funny. Other than that, he has been doing great this whole week! I bought him some regular underwear on Saturday, and he's been doing great since wearing those instead of the padded ones.

Fun in July

Well, I am doing pretty poorly at keeping this blog updated regularly. We haven't been up to a whole lot lately, being busy with work and what not. This past month we were able to have my parents come stay with us for a few days. It was nice. We don't get to see them very often, so I was glad Tyler was able to get to spend time with them and get to know them better. Here are a few pictures of some things we've been doing.

We went to the zoo with my parents while they were here. It was kind of disappointing because a lot of the exhibits were "under construction", but we did get to see the elephant show, which Tyler loved because he is really big on elephants.

On the August long weekend, we went down to Drumheller for the day with everyone in my family except for Mal, Cody, and Steve. It was a lot of fun to get to see everybody. We met up at the giant dinosaur, had a picnic lunch, and then let the kids swim for a while. They had a great time. The weather was fantastic. I managed to get pretty sunburned in the couple of hours that we were outside.

After playing at the water park, we headed to the Royal Tyrell Museum. Tyler was asleep for the first half of the visit. When he woke up, he thought it was pretty cool, though he seemed a bit more interested in pushing the stroller than anything else.

We went to Castrol Raceway last night for some drag racing. Trevor got to race his Ducati on the quarter mile. He had a pretty good time. His buddy Travis was there as well, so they got to race each other. Tyler didn't like how loud it was, so we left Trevor there and came home to bed.

One day while we were outside, Tyler asked for his hat, but didn't want me to go into the house to get it, so he improvised. He rode around with his shirt pulled up on his head like this for about 10 minutes or so. It was pretty funny.

Potty Time

We decided to start potty training Tyler yesterday. He peed on the floor about 4 or 5 times yesterday, but only once today. He pooped in his toilet 3 times today all on his own. He seems to be catching on pretty quickly. The one problem is we've been letting him go without underwear most of the time, so he isn't totally used to having to take it off first. He has had it on a few of the times, and is starting to get the hang of it. We have kept his toilet in the room we are in, so it is nice and close for him. He won't even say he has to go, he just does it, which is good and bad. I am going to talk to the day home tomorrow about working with us on this, and I guess we'll see how it goes.

Canada Day & Birthdays

 We set up Tyler's whale pool from last year the other day. Apparently, it is much smaller than either of us remembered. He still had a great time in it though.

For Canada Day, we did some kite flying, playing in the park, and then we went to the Carnival. We wanted to take Tyler on some rides, but they only had one ticket booth, and the line was about a mile long, so we didn't do that.

 Here's Tyler with his new parents, Jessie and Travis. They are the friends Trevor made at the race track that are from Ontario. Tyler really likes them.

We went to the Fireworks in Mill Woods again this year. They were amazing, as usual. Tyler threw up all over me about halfway through, but then was fine until the end. He had lots of fun running around with Beck, playing with balloons and glow sticks. They sure have a good time together.

We got a really cool Buzz cake for Tyler's birthday. He loved it.

Uncle Spencer got this awesome Buzz Pinata for Tyler's birthday party. He's been holding on to it for us since Christmas. It was a BIG HIT!! Thanks Spencer.

Tyler got some really awesome presents for his birthday: a new blanket from Grandma & Grandpa Scott, which he loves, a new tractor from Beck, a new tool set from Liz, a cleaning set from Mom, a set of stamps from Dad, and a few books. It was a fun day for him.

Asthma Update

Today we went and saw the specialist for Tyler's asthma, and she confirmed that he does in fact have asthma. From all of the questions they asked, it sounds like it is triggered by allergies. It will be most present in the Spring and Fall. She prescribed Singulair pills to take once a day at bedtime. They are cherry flavored chewable tablets. He will only need to use the inhaler when he has an "attack". Hopefully he can still grow out of it, or it won't get any worse than it is. He's been doing really well since getting the inhaler, so hopefully that continues with this new pill.

Make-It Monday

Lemonade Chicken

8 boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 large can of lemonade concentrate
6 Tbsp ketchup
6 Tbsp brown sugar
2 Tbsp vinegar

3-4 Tbsp water
3-4 Tbsp cornstarch

Place chicken in slow cooker. Combine lemonade, ketchup, brown sugar & vinegar; pour over chicken. Cover and cook for 2 1/2 - 3 hours on high. Remove chicken and keep warm.

For "lemonade" sauce, combine cornstarch and water until smooth, set aside. Pour juice from slow cooker through a strainer, making sure there aren't any chunks. Place juice ina  medium sized sauce pan and bring to a boil. Add cornstarch mixture to boiling juice and stir until lemonade sauce thickens. Continue to stir so it won't stick to bottom of pan. Pour thickened souce over chicken OR leave separate and serve over rice.

Tyler's First Field Trip

Tyler got to go on his first field trip yesterday. One of the girls that works at the Day Home trains horses and does equine massage. They got to go to Amberlea Meadows, the horse stables, and take a short ride and brush the horses and fun stuff like that. They said that he really like the horses. He wouldn't sit on a saddle though, so Lyndsay took him for his ride bareback. Here are a couple pictures of it.
