Summer in the City

How can you tell Summer has arrived? I rarely post anything on my blog! To make up for it, most of my posts are picture filled. We actually take pictures in the summer because we are doing interesting things, unlike winter when we are cooped up in our house. Sorry in advance for the picture overload.

Trevor had made it out to the track for one track day so far. The weather hasn't been the greatest for it yet. He is signed up to get his Racing license in 2 weeks. That will be pretty cool. It's a 2-day course, and then you have to participate in 1 actual race within 2 years for it to remain valid. He's pretty excited about it.

Tyler went to a birthday party for some twin boys in our complex. They went to the Terwillegar Rec Centre and played floor hockey and had treats and stuff. He seemed to really enjoy it.

We got to babysit Beck a couple of weeks ago for a few hours. These 2 boys are so goofy when they are together. They had a great time running around outside! We had lots of fun.

Tyler is such a poser!!

We decided it was time for him to start wearing a bike helmet so that when he gets an actual bike, he will be used to having it on. He loves it and wears it all of time!

Out at the lake for a Bergstrom family get together. It was a lot of fun.

We gave Tyler and Trevor matching haircuts on Saturday. I don't have a picture of them together, but here's one of Tyler. I think it makes him look so old!

Out at the Lake for Father's Day. Trevor was helping out his dad with some bobcat work for a few minutes.

Here are Beck and Tyler relaxing on the hammock. They were loving it, pretending to sleep and snuggling. It was cute to watch them. Tyler has gotten into the habit of wearing his hat to the side, not always as much as the picture coming up, but to the side. Trevor calls him T-Wes for short when he does it. That's his new rapper name!

Shenanigans

I am going to bombard you with photos again. The weather has been so nice the last couple of weeks. We have been having a blast playing outside. Tyler has been at his new Day home for 2 weeks now and loves it. Heather likes to play with the kids outside, so they spend most of the day playing in the back yard, which he absolutely loves. It has been great so far!

One night, he found a random skateboard in our complex and entertained himself for about 1/2 an hour or so. He told me to go get the camera and take his picture. It was fun to watch him. After a while, Trevor came out and was pushing him on the skateboard, then Tyler wanted to ride with him. It was good times.

About a week ago, we went to the Aviation Museum at the Downtown Airport in Edmonton. We had never been before. We met up with Russell and Andrea and their boys. Tyler totally zonked in the car about 5 minutes before we got there, and was not interested in waking up, so Trevor pushed him around in this airplane for a bit.

After we got him to wake up, he had the time of his life. This airplane is an old one from Lethbridge that used to fly passengers from Lethbridge to Edmonton. It was so tiny!! I don't think I could have ever flown in it.

We even got to sit in a jet plane. Tyler loved it, but I think Trevor was secretly more excited. They were both grinning like crazy the whole time!

Tyler and Beck were racing around outside on their airplanes (pushed by their Daddy's of course). They had a really good time.

Trevor and a couple of his buddies took their bikes out to Street Legal night at Castrol Raceway to race the Drag Strip. Tyler and I decided not to go, but he got this cool picture with his GoPro. They had a really fun time!

I Love a Good Picture!

I haven't posted any pictures for a while, so here are a ton for you to enjoy!

This is what he looked like when I picked him up from Day Home for a Doctor's appointment!

We are the Core! Green Lantern Rules.

Playing in the last snowfall we got.

Homemade Snow Cone!

Posing like crazy with his favourite backpack!

The Ducati

A visit to the Muttart with the Patrick's. Tyler was refusing to take his hat and gloves off, even in the desert pyramid. He was sweating buckets!

Look at that handsome dude!

His haul at the Easter Egg Hunt.

Having fun at the park. We have been making multiple trips to the park somedays, now that it is nice out! He loves his Slurpees.

Car Pictures

Goodbye Elantra, You've Been Great!

For those of you that haven't heard, I was in a car accident yesterday. I was on my way to pick up Tyler from day home. I was travelling up 66th street North. I got to 12 Ave and noticed a school bus pulling across 66th St in front of me. I slammed on my brakes, but to no avail. I went right into the side of the bus, just in front of his back tire. The back end of my car was smashed. I hit my head on the side window of my car. 3 witnesses stopped and gave me their information. One lady stayed until everything was all taken care of. She was really nice.

Trevor called his brother Spencer to come and pick him up at home so they could come to the scene. On his way to get Trevor, he got pulled over for talking on his phone because he was lost. Trevor ran to where he was and they were able to get out of the ticket.

We towed the car to Herber's, and they called me this morning saying it is definitely going to be a write-off. I have had the car for almost 10 years and have never had a problem with it. We were just saying a couple of weeks ago how we would for sure get at least 5 more years out of it. Well, I guess not!

I have a couple of pictures of my phone, but will have to wait until I get home to upload them. Today I am feeling a bit nauseous, so I guess I will go to the doctor this afternoon and make sure it's not a concussion. Ah, good times! I am just glad Tyler wasn't in the car with me. He started crying when they towed the car away, so imagine if he had been in the car!

Make-It Monday

Snickerdoodles - Perfectly Soft

adapted from Lion House Desserts

1 cup butter, softened
2 ½ cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 ½ tablespoons water
6 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon cinnamon*
3 tablespoons sugar*

Heat oven to 350. Mix together the 3 tablespoons of sugar with the cinnamon.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

Combine butter and 2 ½ cups of sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, vanilla and water. Beat until fluffy.

Add the flour, cream of tartar baking soda and salt.

Drop cookies by rounded tablespoonfuls into the cinnamon sugar mixture and coat well. Place dough on a cookie sheet and bake for 9-10 minutes.

*The ratio of cinnamon to sugar is really to your liking. The combination I use is pretty heavy on the cinnamon, but I like it that way. If you want cookies that are lighter in color, just add more sugar.

Printed from Double Batch.

**This is by far the BEST snickerdoodle recipe I have ever made. We have made them twice in the past week. Tyler loves them. They really are perfectly soft. So delicious!

Make-It Monday

Pizza Crust
Serves: 1 pizza
Bake Time:  12-15 min
Temp: 450 F

1 Tbsp   yeast
1 cup   warm water
1 tsp   sugar
1 tsp   salt
2 Tbsp   veg. oil
2 1/2 cups   flour

Dissolve yeast in water. Add remaining ingredients. Dump onto floured surface. Knead 5 minutes until smooth (I just leave mine in my bosch and mix until it is smooth). Roll out onto greased pan. Add toppings.

**I love this recipe. No rise time, and it still puffs up nicely when baked. We used it all of the time!
